We came up with an innovative solution to the layout to ensure everyone attending was fully engaged
Vodafone Enterprise, IT conference
Newbury Racecourse, September 2016
If you know Newbury Racecourse, you will know the room we are talking about on the second floor. Running the width of the grandstand, it is shallow in depth. When Vodafone Enterprise said they wanted their interactive IT conference there, we needed to come up with an innovative solution to the layout to ensure everyone attending was fully engaged.
So instead of running the event traditionally, where the room would be long and thin and people at the back may feel isolated from the action, we built a 12 by 3.5m set, in a natural alcove for the plenary session in the main room, and ran the event in cabaret rounds, landscape. The stage couldn’t be any bigger as the ceiling height wouldn’t allow. All of the 240 strong audience of IT and communication leaders and managers, were able to join in the debate and discussion easily, enabled by the live camera feeds to the side screens, avoiding the problems you get from infinity shots, inter cut with pre-recorded footage from people who were unable to be there on the day.
Break out rooms for Lego building followed lunch and then a quick change of atmosphere with the lights into an awards and recognition session to round off the day.
